The Aegean around Paros holds more than forty catalogued dive sites, from shallow reef gardens at twelve meters to vertical wall systems that drop past thirty. Paros Diving PADI has operated from Golden Beach since the early 2000s, building a reputation for small-group instruction and multilingual staff who work across Open Water, Advanced, and Rescue Diver tracks. The centre itself sits directly on Golden Beach, a long stretch of sand where the meltemi wind creates reliable conditions for windsurfing but also dictates the diving calendar. Morning departures take advantage of the lull before midday gusts arrive, and boat trips typically return by early afternoon. If you hold an existing PADI certification, you can join guided excursions without enrolling in a course. If you are starting from zero, the Open Water track spans three to four days, combining pool sessions, theory modules, and open-water dives. Sea temperature in summer hovers around 24°C, dropping to 16°C by February. Most divers wear a 5mm wetsuit from May through October and add a hood or switch to 7mm for shoulder-season trips. Visibility averages fifteen to twenty-five meters, occasionally pushing past thirty when plankton bloom subsides in late spring. Sites near Antiparos and the southern islets feature octopus, moray eels, and occasional grouper, while the shallower zones around Drios attract damselfish and painted combers. Certification cards from other agencies—SSI, CMAS, NAUI—are honored for equivalent-level dives, but you will need to show your logbook and proof of recent activity if your last dive was more than a year ago. The centre does not charge for equipment inspection, but rental gear is billed separately from course or trip fees. Booking ahead during July and August is necessary; shoulder months like May and September often have same-day availability.
